Another "winner" for Rose Sullivan, tells you everything you need to know to be able to make an intelligent decision on whether you should adopt one of these birds. While I am not a prospective adopter, I thoroughly enjoyed the information provided in this book.

A must-have guide which tells you everything you'll ever need to know about caring for Rainbow Lorikeets, This book is packed with lots of interesting facts about these fabulous little birds as well as very helpful advice about how to look after them as pets. I'd highly recommend it to amateur and experienced bird owners alike.

About the Author
Bruce Kamich, CMT, is a vice president at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney’s Technical Analysis Group and coauthors their flagship publication the Daily Technical Market Letter. He also teaches technical analysis to various Morgan Stanley Smith Barney trading desks. Kamich has held a variety of positions related to research and technical analysis at firms such as McCarthy, Crisanti and Maffei; ALCO Commodities; and Merrill Lynch. He is an adjunct professor of finance at Baruch College and has also taught at Rutgers University, as well as being guest lecturer on many other campuses. He has twice served as president of the Market Technicians Association (MTA) and is currently president of the MTA Educational Foundation. Kamich is the author of How Technical Analysis Works (NYIF/Prentice Hall Press, 2002). He lives in New Jersey.

Is this all?

A rather thin book on different patters found in the bar chart (e.g. head and shoulder, triangles) using daily charts. This is classic territory, since the bar chart ruled the world before the candlesticks entered in the 90s. The patterns can naturally also be applied to candlesticks.

As a description of the standard patterns this book is as good as any, but since the patters have been described in very similar fashion for at least 50 years, I expected something more from this book. I would have liked (1) a description of why the patterns happens, (2) an insightful understanding of what has changed over time, or (3) a discussion of intraday charts. Maybe it wouldn't fit with the book's objective to deal with 5 min charts, but hourly charts should definitely have been covered. He states that he isn't really familiar with intra-day charts. I'd say it's time to learn!

I don't get the feeling that the author really "lives the markets". The book feels very mechanical and there is no passion in the author's voice. The author doesn't try to probe deeper by adding something novel in his book. He seems perfectly happy writing a book that could have been written 50 years ago. Out of the four people that recommend the book on the back cover, two are also thanked for their contribution to the book. It would have been much smarter to solicit reviews from people that were not involved in providing support to the author.

Alternatives?
The classic book on chart patterns is Technical Analysis of Stock Trends by Robert D. Edwards and John Magee. The latest version book is really too thick and I would advice to get an edition prior to the mid 1980s. (That's right - very old!). I find the latest editions really too wordy and messy. The old editions are also too wordy, but less so. In addition the old editions (at least the early 80s edition) are also beautifully bound - something that looks good in your bookshelf. That cannot be said about the latest ugly version.

You could also buy Brandt's Diary of a Professional Commodity Trader: Lessons from 21 Weeks of Real Trading, which contains kind of a running commentary of which patterns are still useful, etc. Brandt considers himself an Edwards & Magee follower, but he also states that traditional chart patterns are no longer as valid in the past, but you should not expect too much thinking in that book. Still he is a successful trader for a long time that claims to follow Edwards & Magee, so worth a look.

If you are in for doing more work, I would advice you to check out Trading Price Action Trends: Technical Analysis of Price Charts Bar by Bar for the Serious Trader (Wiley Trading) (first volume of three). Even though the author uses candlesticks the focus is more on the classical bar chart formations, like wedges, triangles, flags, and channels. Just be aware that the focus here is on five minute charts.

Not very well written. You can get the same information on the internet in clearer formats and clearer language. Would not recommend this book for either the beginner and definitely not those already familiar with chart patterns.

Finally, Madame admits Brontorina, and humorous scenes show little boys and girls doing arabesques, relevés, and jetés, while enormous Brontorina gracefully crashes into the ceiling. Madame concludes that the new pupil is just too big. Brontorina turns to leave, a dinosaur-size tear falling from her eye. Then the teacher has a realization: The problem is not that you are too big. The problem is that my studio is too small, and the academy gets relocated and renamed. A quiet fusion of pathos, comedy, and passion is echoed in the painterly, softly textured, muted oil illustrations. When Brontorina's size limits her horizons, Madame Lucille changes her own assumptions (as well as her studio). Her broad-minded approach opens up a range of new possibilities. Text and illustrations work beautifully together in this witty fantasy. Though in lesser hands the plot might have seemed tired, here speech balloons alternate with narration to tell the story in a fresh, droll manner. In Cecil's arresting oil paintings, the tawny orange dinosaur stands out boldly against slate blue or white backgrounds, and the unusual texture of the paint creates a distinctive effect. Brontorina makes a hugely sympathetic heroine as pictured here, and the stylized figures of her teacher and classmates are no less appealing. Brontorina covers acceptance, rejection, being yourself, differences, and following your dreams quite beautifully. When Brontorina enters Madame Lucille's Dance Academy she is met with warmth and curiosity. But she's also met with a little bit of an attitude by two girls who just can't seem to find anything nice to say. It's like they want her to fail. They have a very minor role but I pointed out their put-downs. A kiddo said, "They are trying to stand in front of her dream!" Luckily, there are two other dancers, Clara and Jack, who want nothing more then to help her succeed. We need to lift each other up - not cut each other down. This was a well received message thanks to Brontorina. Major kudos to the author for picking a dinosaur to be a ballerina. This kept both boys and girls engaged. The last illustration got a heartwarming "AHHHHHH" from all the students. Oh, and from me too! As an elementary school counselor, it's refreshing to find books like Brontorina.

Fun story with a great lesson

I loved this story! Brontorina Apatosaurus is a dinosaur who just has to dance. After all,she has the name of a ballerina doesn't she? I loved Madame Lucille's attitude of acceptance and Brontorina's steadfast refusal to give up on her dream. I even liked the snarky girls on the sidelines that kept commenting on how she didn't have the right shoes. The illustrations are simple and adorable, giving Brontorina just the perfect amount of innocence and charm that will have every reader rooting for her. The ending, which shows just how far Madame Lucille was willing to go to make sure that Brontorina could dance, is a testament to inclusiveness. In the end, she even gets the right shoes. This is a perfect choice for preschool and kindergarten groups as a read aloud, and can be used effectively to promote discussions about acceptance. Recommended

This one will be a classic!

I came across this book while looking for other books Randy Cecil has illustrated (we loved his 'We've all got belly buttons'). This is my 21 month old's favorite book. Granted, this is for older children but my daughter enjoys being read to and loves the emotion in this book. As a parent reading the book to her (many times a day) I'm nowhere near being sick of the book; Randy Cecil's illustrations are beautiful and James Howe's text is just enough, so we hover on each page talking about what else is going on.
I hope this book will teach my daughter acceptance of people no matter their differences and the determination to hold on to her dreams. Can't recommend this book enough!

Definitely the HOTTEST Gerrard book I've read

First of all, do NOT read this one in public if there is a chance that someone could be reading over your shoulder. (I was trying to read it at a Cub Scout pack meeting and had to set it aside and bite my nails until I could get home and read in private.)
Holy hotness! It's a short read and yet they still get their happily ever after in a believable outcome. Thanks to Karyn Gerrard for my little Christmas present to myself. I'm one happy reader. :D

Unique, saucy fun. This story about a jaded Victorian male prostitute and his curious,intelligent female client is unlike anything I've read in the Romance genre. Lots of sexiness and characterization in a small package. Wonderful and slightly strange slice of life story that is very romantic at its heart. Well done.
