Open source software development has received considerable scholarly attention, much of which is based on the presumption that the ‘open source model’ holds some lessons of broader applicability. Kerstin Balka focuses on the open source development of tangible objects, so-called open design. To explore the landscape and mechanisms of open design, she presents a comprehensive study of 104 projects and an in-depth case study of six projects. The subsequent quantitative study explores openness as a gradual and multi-dimensional concept showing that companies can successfully implement strategies of partial openness to safeguard value capture without alienating their developer community.

About the Author
Kerstin Balka obtained her doctorate with Prof. Cornelius Herstatt at the Institute for Technology and Innovation Management at the Hamburg University of Technology.

It's always wise to be aware of how one's own position fits into the ecosystem of one's chosen ambitions. There's always room to adapt to a new role, fashion will never be obsolete as it continually evolves and remains a fast-growing industry.

I enjoyed the examples in Concept to Customer because everything is helpful and easy to follow, no verbosity in sight. I especially responded to the case studies examined in every section, they drive home and expand on the information gathered in the chapter by matching it to a relevant company; the focus on Topshop was my favorite. I can speak for myself and say this book will be an important reference guide in my ongoing journey though fashion. I enjoy studying this book. Approximately 250 pages of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript material
related to the MTA Certification exam 98-375. I again think that this book is very useful for learning the material.

Terrible. This is less an HTML5 app development book than an indoctrination into Microsoft-centric mobile app development. The content relies on obsolete links to Microsoft content. It is maddeningly frustrating to read. If you are a teacher or trainer, I cannot recommend you use this book. I will not use it in my classroom.

Contacted Wiley to get access to answer key that is located at the end of each chapter. I was refused. Seeing as this is a major part of the "usefulness" of this book I was very disappointed to see this. I would not recommend this to anyone learning that is not absolutely required to buy this by a professor.

and was disappointed when the series seemed to come to an end

I read the other books in this series in the 80s and 90s, and was disappointed when the series seemed to come to an end. I was happy to see some work in e format, and very surprised to see this book.

It does start somewhat slowly, and takes a bit for the story to get moving. The Maln character is interesting in her differences from her mother, and the setting for most of the conflict and action was unexpected. If you enjoyed his earlier books, this one is definitely worth picking up!

Finally published, long overdue

As a huge fan of Busby's Hulzein dynasty novels, I found this installment satisfying. The first third of the story moved rather slowly, re-introducing characters and history from earlier works and building new characters, but it eventually took off. Some readers may not appreciate the fairy tale ending, but I found myself hoping for just that and was not disappointed. Thankfully, the character Renalle is nothing like her "niece/sister" Liesel, the snotty little brat who rated two of her own novels (Rebel's Seed and Alien Debt); Renalle is likable! While the story stands on its own, I suggest first reading the entire Rissa Kerguelen saga (Young Rissa, Rissa and Tregare, and The Long View) followed by the Bran Tregare stories (Star Rebel and Rebel's Quest). Only then can you fully appreciate the complexities and depth of the characters and their relationships, and perhaps feel, as I did, the familiarity and closeness of family and old friends.

This is a fantastic academic achievement. Well written and cuts into controversies and clinical essentials. Extensive references of major trials and metaanalyses, still easy to read with clear interpretations of the results. Clear presentation of the essential mechanisms without becoming unnecessarily detailed for the non-research reader. Practically very useful and full of details that will optimize most internists and cardiologists prescriptions to get a little bit more out of the medications that so many physicians prescribe on a daily basis.

I recommend this as an excellent resource for those who want to know the PK and PD of the drugs they prescribe, and research to back it up. Divided nicely and well organized. A very usable resource with excellent teaching sections, well written and easy to follow. Small enough to carry.
